Free “It’s Your Money!” Course Helps People Stay in Control of Their Money
Guest speakers will discuss financial topics in weekly class moderated by veteran financial advisor.
LA HABRA, California—Eclectic Associates’ Carl Lachman, a veteran financial advisor, has joined with other financial and tax professionals to offer a free course on personal finance.
“It’s Your Money!” is an eight-week-long course that will meet Tuesday afternoons, April 2 to May 21, at the La Habra Community Center.
Speakers will present on a different topic each week. Topics will include the new tax law, financial planning, annuities and mutual funds, long-term-care insurance, medical care planning, stock investing, bond investing, and “your money and your mind.”
Carl Lachman said the guest speakers will be fee-only financial advisors and tax advisors. “There’ll be absolutely no salespeople,” he said. “Our goal isn’t to sell products but to educate the community. We want people to avoid financial abuse by staying in control of their money and estate longer, through either their own efforts or an advisor with a fiduciary duty to them.”
Lachman will serve as moderator and occasional speaker. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and the vice president of Eclectic Associates, a fee-only Registered Investment Advisory Firm in Fullerton. He has helped moderate “It’s Your Money!” classes since 2011—an experience he said he has found rewarding.
“It’s so easy to make mistakes in personal finance,” Lachman said. “It has been gratifying to help people in an area that can truly serve them—their money and investments.”
Travis McShane, CFP®, CFA, who is also a financial advisor at Eclectic Associates, will speak on financial planning goals and assets on April 16.
The course is sponsored by the La Habra Community Center and the Financial & Estate Literacy Organization.
Classes will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the La Habra Community Center, 101 W. La Habra Blvd.
Snacks and educational handouts will be provided.
